Hello Packers fans,
Before I ask the simple question, let me just state that I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the packers and have only known cheese heads who are solid people. I also eat a lot of Cheese from Wisconsin here in NY where I live.
I am certain you have all heard the rumors of Miami potentially targeting James Jones in a trade. We recently traded our CB Vontae Davis (for better or for worse) and more than likely have the picks to make this kind of trade. Moreover, your former OC knows him about as well as anyone, so if we do make this trade happen, I can only assume it will be because Philbin thinks Jones is worth it. (Many of us Phins fans also assume he told our GM not to bother breaking the bank for Matt Flynn).
Of course, you may know (perhaps from Hard Knocks, if nothing else) that Miami only has one solid receiving target in Davone Bess. While he is certainly a very good slot guy, maybe even top ten (trying not to be a homer), he cannot be our rookie QB's only WR threat. Our other decent guy, Brian Hartline, has been injured all preseason. Everyone else drops the ball. Our TEs drop the ball. Or the can't get separation. The one exception, Chris Hogan, is an UDFA who may make the PS. He seems to be able to catch the ball against the 3rd and 4th stringers. Our rookies have some silver linings but nothing wows me. In sum, our WR squad sucks a donkey's rear end and if we want to give Tannehill a shot to develop and the team a shot to win, we need to do something.
So, the question is simple, what kind of player is James Jones? What are his strengths and weaknesses? What do you think is a fair trade value for him ?
