In the second half, Greg Jennings went down for a pass. 25 yards later, Brandon Browner lead with his helmet to Jennings helmet and tried to put him out of the game. The ball was not thrown to him, nor was he in any way shape or form a part of the play. It was dirty at the lowest level, malicious and intentful by any objective eye, and it goes against everything that Goddell and the NFL claim that they stand for.
The Defensive backs have had life easier this year. The rent-a-refs have given them much freer reign to do as they please and so our WR's have been by and large, manhandled at the line of scrimmage. This is fine by me actually - I think they babied the WR's too much. But when a player is running a route, and gets blindsided helmet to helmet, there is no question that it is a foul.
I don't know how one could miss that, but they did. Not too suprisingly. This was a terrible miss by the referees, and the NFL should make up for both this, as well as the *loss that the Packers suffered. He should be fined at least 100k and suspended for at least a game. If you're not going to accept this sort of action for a guy like Jerome Harrison, you've got to lay the hammer down on this guy so it doesn't happen to anyone else. He's 6'4" 220 pounds. He could have done serious damage to Jennings.
Do the right thing Goddell. I'm sure that the NFL is going to have a record amount of funds coming in from the Packers in one week - and most likely Matthews is going to get suspended for his tweet of the phone number. But if you're going to fine the Packers for being pissed off for something that the NFL caused, this turkey should get fined and suspended for what the NFL allowed him to do without any in-game repricussions.
