Adam Schefter is a little mind-blowing with his coverage of the NFL these days. He tweets an average of 14 times per day, a number that actually surprised me because I thought it would be about twice that. So of course, who is the first person to have the list of players who have been invited and accepted their invites to this year's NFL Draft in New York City? That's right, Adam Schefter.
He tweeted the list in three parts, which you can find here, here, and here. If you'd rather just read the list, though, I have copied it below with the players' positions and college teams.
Offensive Prospects
E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
Defensive Prospects
Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Ezekiel Ansah, DE, Brigham Young
Margus Hunt, DE, Southern Methodist
Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU
Bjoern Werner, DE/OLB, Florida State
Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
Possibly the most interesting thing about the list is that several players on it could last into the second round, and would have to go back to their hotels after the first round on the night of April 25th without knowing which NFL team they will be playing for. Perhaps the NFL is trying to invite more of these prospects to reduce the embarrassment for a player if he indeed is not selected highly (see Aaron Rodgers, 2005).
