With the 27th pick, the Green Bay Packers select...

Last night was very disappointing to say the least, but lucky for us there will be another season next year. Before that season starts though, there is the NFL draft. I'm interested in seeing who TT gets, particularly in the first round, this year.

For me, it is difficult to decide which position to draft, that is probably because of the many injuries we have sustained. We could draft any number of positions, OL, DL, OLB/ILB, TE, etc. With last nights game, it is evident that we need better LBs, but do we really? How much better would having Bishop/Perry be than Walden or Jones/Hawk? That is a problem TT will have to face, do we draft a certain position, even if we already have a guy who can do the job but was injured? I don't know if being healthy would've helped against containing Kaep, but I will say this, if we were able to contain Kaep we would've had a chance to win the game. Does that mean we draft Front 7 in the first round? I just don't know.

Here is what I want with this year's first round pick, a play maker. Clay Matthews has too much on his plate, he needs help, from somebody, anybody. With Perry coming back and another offseason to learn, I expect him to be a pretty good complement to Matthews, and Mike Neal showed some potential as a pass rusher. So do we draft a DL to "replace" Pickett's production and help Matthews? I think so, but not with the first rounder, unless someone falls to us.

The player I want is a star Safety. We have been missing one of these since Collins' career was cut short. I want a safety with great range, who can close to the ball, anticipate plays, and lay the smack down. Fortunately for us, there are many safeties in this year's draft, the one I want, however, is All American Phillip Thomas. I like what this kid can do, everything that is. He makes plays on the ball, INTs and fumbles, he is also a decent blitzer, he also has good range when dropping back. There is a reason this kid was an All American. This is the guy I want, now it's time to hear from you guys, remember, this is only for the 27th pick.
