Report: Randall Cobb's Injury Not Believed to be Serious

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Early reports indicate that Packers' wide receiver Randall Cobb might have avoided a major injury.

Keep in mind that nothing's official. The Packers aren't likely to an indication one way or the other until mid-week at the earliest.

However, perhaps Packers fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Randall Cobb's injury isn't believed to be as bad as originally feared.

This development meshes with the postgame comments made by Jordy Nelson.

"We're always worried when someone goes out. As far as I know, it's not possibly as bad as it could have been. So, hopefully that stays the course. We'll find out more this week and hopefully it's a quick recovery."

Even if Cobb avoided a major injury, it's still unlikely he'll be ready to suit up for next week's game against the Browns. The Packers have probably already contacted Myles White, the Packers' lone practice squad receiver. The team might have also been interested in Charles Johnson, but the Browns signed him earlier this week.

Regardless, hopefully the MRI reveals that Cobb's injury is minor and he'll be healthy again soon.

UPDATE: Cobb's timetable isn't known for sure yet, but we have a better idea after hearing reports of anywhere from two to four weeks for his recovery.
