Packers Injury Report: James Jones, Mike Neal, Casey Hayward Questionable for Browns

Andy Lyons

The Packers still have a chance at fielding a full 46-man roster this week, as a few key players might be able to go on Sunday despite not practicing all week.

At this point it is no guarantee that the Green Bay Packers will be able to field 46 players for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, but there's a chance that they could end up with a full roster. After today's practice, we learned more about the status of several key Packers.

By now, we all know that starting outside linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry are out, as is wide receiver Randall Cobb. We now also know that inside linebacker Brad Jones, who did not practice this week, has been ruled out as well. Jamari Lattimore will start in his place.

Unfortunately, another veteran linebacker, Mike Neal, has been held out of practice all week with a shoulder injury, and he was not practicing on Friday. Unlike Jones, however, the team has ruled him questionable for Sunday's game.

James Jones is in a similar situation to Neal's, as the receiver did not see the practice field this week but is questionable. Mike McCarthy said of both Jones and Neal that they are "ready to go mentally" and that the team will take another look at them on Sunday morning to decide whether they can play.

Cornerback Casey Hayward is also questionable for Sunday, but he was limited in practice all week. Hayward's return would certainly open up more options for the Packers in their defensive sub packages, but even if he does play it seems likely that he would be on a limited snap count to ease him back in.

Helping the odds that the questionable Packers will play is the fact that Sunday's game is a 3:25 PM Central kickoff. That means that they will get more time on Sunday morning to work with the trainers than they would for a noon kickoff. Hopefully that extra rehab and preparation time will be enough to get them ready to play in the afternoon.
