Mike McCarthy Presser 12/26: Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy to Play, Randall Cobb could Join Them

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced that Aaron Rodgers will start against the Bears after missing the last seven games.

It might be a day late, but Mike McCarthy delivered the present every Packers fan wanted for Christmas.

During his Thursday media availably, the Packers head coach announce that Aaron Rodgers will indeed play in this Sunday's NFC North deciding showdown with the Bears. Rodgers' last scan apparently demonstrated enough progress in his collarbone that the medical staff and GM Ted Thompson felt comfortable allowing their franchise quarterback return to the field.

But the good news didn't stop there. McCarthy also opined that nicked up tailback Eddie Lacy was "expected to play." The Packers held their rookie tailback out of practice again today, as has been the custom since he first sprained his ankle three weeks ago. If the team stays true to their pattern, Lacy should participate in practice tomorrow in some capacity.

And to complete this ham-fisted trinity analogy, it appears that Randall Cobb is on pace to be activated off the IR in time to play this weekend. According to multiple accounts, Cobb practiced well last week, but the team decided to give him extra time to reintegrate himself back into the offense. Cobb hasn't played since October 13th.

That's all for McCarthy. Keep your internet machines tuned to Acme Packing Company for the latest Packers news and developments.
