Well, this is surprising. The Vikings were apparently unwilling to pay Winfield more than $7 million next season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter has confirmed that three veterans will be cut by the Atlanta Falcons today:
Major moves in ATL: Falcons are releasing CB Dunta Robinson, RB Michael Turner and DE John Abraham today.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 1, 2013
Turner's release is no surprise, nor is Abraham's. Robinson being cut is a little more surprising, bot not a huge shock. In total, these moves will save the Falcons $18.55 million in cap space for 2013, broken out as follows according to Spotrac.com:
Turner: $6.9 M
Abraham: $5.65 M
Robinson: $6 M

The New York Jets' cuts are coming fast today, as shortly after announcing that they released four players, reports surfaced that another Jet is on his way out of the Big Apple. This tweet came down the wire shortly after it was reported that the Jets would be holding a meeting with linebacker Bart Scott to try to restructure his contract:
So, there won't be a Thursday meeting between Bart Scott's agent and the Jets regarding the veteran linebacker. He's being released instead
— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) February 19, 2013
Cutting Scott saves the Jets about $7 million in cap space this year and another $8 million in 2014. Something tells me the former Jet and Raven can't wait to sign a new deal in free agency.

While it's an interesting idea, Dwight Freeney will almost certainly not be a Green Bay Packer in 2013.

As Buffalo Rumblings notes, the Bills have added another name to their list of veteran cuts: cornerback Terrence McGee. His release takes a little over $2 million off the Bills books for the 2013 season.
McGee was a solid corner for several years after making his mark in the NFL as a dynamic return man. He made the Pro Bowl as a returner in 2004, his second season, after leading the league with three kick return scores. McGee also was a primary starter at cornerback from 2004 to 2009, but was hampered by injuries each of the past three seasons.
It's unlikely that McGee would get a look from the Green Bay Packers, however. Based on positional need, the Packers would seem much more likely to kick the tires on former Packer linebacker Nick Barnett or safety George Wilson, both of whom were released by Buffalo earlier this week.
