For a second time the Packers were unable to sign Chris Canty to a deal when he was a free agent. This time concerns about his knee got in the way of a deal.
Well back to the drawing board for the defensive line. It appears that Chris Canty is not off the market after signing a three year $8 million dollar deal with the Baltimore Ravens. The deal breaker between the Packers and Canty:
According to an NFL source, the #Packers didn't like what they saw of Canty's knee and passed on him. Others thought the knee was fine.

So it was a nice thought while it lasted. Now the Packers have to go back to the drawing board on ways to improve the defensive line. There are still some free agents who may be able to help; otherwise the draft is rich with talent at the defensive tackle position. Right now the Packers could use some help at the defensive end spot for their 3-4 defense as well as another nose tackle who could eventually replace Ryan Pickett. Canty would have played defensive end for the Packers.
