A.J. Hawk agrees to restructured contract

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

A couple of reports indicate that A.J. Hawk has taken a slight pay cut to ensure his future with the Packers.

Well, the news about linebackers is flying in constantly. Mike Garafolo of USA Today and Aaron Nagler of both Cheesehead TV and Bleacher Report have passed along the news that Green Bay Packers inside linebacker A.J. Hawk has agreed to a restructured contract.

While we don't have specifics yet, this tells me that Hawk will probably make his scheduled salary this year, while the restructured later years of his deal will allow the team to give more money to the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, and perhaps B.J. Raji. Again, there are no specifics yet.

Hawk's cap number for this year was around $7 million. He's been a divisive figure among fans, with many believing he's underrated while others think he's not worth the money, but he's certainly a competent player, and I'm happy we've figured out a way to keep him around at a reasonable price.
