All afternoon we've been discussing whether or not the Green Bay Packers should re-sign Brad Jones and what his role would be on the team if he were indeed brought back to Green Bay. The first of those issues appears to be settled, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Silverstein:

Apparently there was something to that meeting that Jones had yesterday at Lambeau Field after all. I'm a big fan of bringing Jones back, as he played some great football alongside A.J. Hawk in 2012. I'll be fascinated to see both the length and value on Jones' contract. In the comments of the prior post, I said that I though Jones deserved a 2 or 3 years at around $3 million per season, and I stick by that. We'll likely see soon what Ted, Jones, and Jones' agent came up with.

This doesn't put an end to the other question, though, that of how Jones will be utilized this coming season. I fully expect him to fight for a starting job with Hawk, Desmond Bishop, and D.J. Smith. At the very least I expect to see him in every obvious passing situation, as he was very good in coverage compared to Hawk in 2012 and Bishop in 2011. We'll update as soon as we hear anything about the contract terms.
