As a Packers fan, I hated seeing #54 on the field terrorizing the Green Bay offenses. As a football fan, I respect the heck out of Urlacher for being a classy player on and off the field, and I think that this is a great thing for him and for the Chicago Bears organization and fans that he has chosen to retire rather than playing another season or two for another franchise.
Against the Green Bay Packers in his career, Urlacher has had a great deal of success. He posted 2.5 sacks, five interceptions, 126 return yards, and one touchdown against his team's biggest rival. Urlacher of course was the leader of the Bears' defense for the last decade-plus, and by all accounts played the game with great intensity, effort, and respect.
We at Acme Packing Company extend our congratulations to Urlacher on a great Hall of Fame-caliber career.
