Cheese Curds: Green Bay Packers News and Links for March 27, 2014

Free Agent and former Colts offensive lineman Mike McGlynn - Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers head coach discusses his team and his personal future with the media.

If Mike McCarthy's assessment of his coaching career is accurate, he will be heading the Green Bay Packers football team through the rest of this decade and beyond. If his assessment of the team's offense is correct, they will be more effective running the ball in 2014 than they were in 2013 because of the lessons learned due to injuries.

That's just a portion of what we have in store for you in today's cheese curds. Expanding on that, we have news that the Packers are bringing in a veteran offensive lineman in for a visit, and it is a player who has been a full-time starter at center in the past. Also, we bring you SB Nation's "Dad Bracket", which is a critical piece of foolishness in the midst of the NCAA Basketball tournament.

McCarthy: Packers' running game got better when Rodgers was out | JSOnline
McCarthy: "Running the ball against eight-man fronts is something you have to do in this league." His point is that learning to do that will pay dividends in the long run.

After 8 seasons, McCarthy feels like he's 'at halftime' | Packersnews
Here's the big quote from this article: "If I felt we would be better served to have someone else call the plays, frankly, I’d give that up. But I just don’t think we’re there right now." Also, by the "halftime" logic, McCarthy would remain at the helm in Green Bay until after the 2021 season.

On offense, Packers will need big contributions from Boykin, Bostick - JSOnline
We all know that those two are in line for expanded roles, but the draft will likely help determine just how much they have to step up.

Packers Reportedly Bring In Free Agent OL Mike McGlynn for Visit | Cheesehead TV
We didn't have a chance to get a post up on this yesterday, but apparently the Packers are bringing in a veteran interior lineman. Mike McGlynn started three games at center for the Colts over the past two years, playing mostly right guard, but was the starting center for 14 games with the 2010 Eagles.

The NFL wants its players to be more respectful, more efficient -
SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber on the NFL determining what is or isn't taunting: "In other words, you'll know it when you see it ... just like the Supreme Court's infamous definition of pornography that caused headaches for communities across the country decades ago."

NFL pro day results: Cody Latimer, Ross Cockrell reveal themselves as sleepers -
Latimer, a wide receiver from Indiana, intrigues me. He's big and fast and was productive at Indiana. A foot injury prevented him from running at the Scouting Combine, but he made up for it with a 40-yard dash time around 4.4 seconds.
