Surveying the Field: Players That Fit Where the Pack Picks

With all the prognostication and mock drafting these days, I think we've all established our own biases towards and against certain players. Instead of relying on simulations that vary endlessly or simply trusting one particular draftnik over another, I decided to look at a number of big boards and come up with a composite field of players that could potentially be available for us to select.

Due to teams reaching and having wildly differing opinions on some players I've given at least a two-player cushion before and after the projected picks, so we have approximately 5 players at each pick from each big board (asterisks denote a player that was agreed upon on multiple boards, one per repitition) that are either a cheap trade away, spot on, or would net us a low 7th-rounder. There are also a few notable players that are a little outside these target ranges that I've included because I think they are potentially a good fit for us and wouldn't be outlandish to move for. The information I've gathered has come from Walter Football, Rotoworld's Josh Norris, CBS Sports, and Draft Insider in case anyone was interested in what asses I've pulled these out of. Unfortunately these don't cover our entire draft, but rather only the first five picks (our sixth pick is strictly from Rotoworld's board)

I thought it would be fun for everyone to pick what combo of these players they think would serve us best and whatever reasoning they may have for so doing, and spark a lively debate for this last 9 days before TT proves just how futile an exercise is predicting his movements. And I, for one, can't wait for someone to pick Donte Moncrief three times.... just like Rick Spielman TT would do.

Obviously there's a lot of both choices and repetition, but picking a guy earlier might actually be better if the rest of the field in a later round is considered particularly weak by you. And it just goes to show that opinions on players' respective values are nothing if not unpredictable. I hope you guys enjoy the fruits of this research, and I look forward to seeing what rookie classes you assemble! GO PACK GO!
