So the draft is over. Thank God. Now to look forward to the real season. With most of our roster set, it's time to start to look at who we have and their liklihood of making the team.
Offense - loaded.
QB - Aaron Rodgers leads the team into battle, but who do we have backing him up? Neither QB is eligible for PS at this juncture; the liklihood of us keeping three QB's is low I think, unless MM is gunshy from last year.
On the Buble - Flynn/Tolzein will battle it out in the preseason. Two will enter, one will survive type of thing.
Just a camp body - Chase Retting.
Lock - Lacy is the undisputed leader here.
On shaky ground - Johnathan Franklin. He hasn't panned out the way we envisioned.
New blood looking to take a roster spot - UDFA Rajon Neal. He's likley a lock for at least a Practice squad position, unless he bombs.
Lock - KUUUUUHHHHHNNNNNN.
Just camp body - Ina Liaina. He'll be fighting for a PS position.
Lock - Nelson, Cobb, Boykin, Adams (you don't invest a 2nd round pick to dump someone immediately.
consolation PS guys - any of the previously mentioned players that are eligible. just a camp body - Raymond Weber
Lock - Quarless and Taylor
Solid chance to make our team - Bostick
Fighting for positions - Stoneburner, Rodgers. Rodgers has the benefit of being able to go on the PS, but being a 3rd round pick, if we do somehow try to stash him, the liklihood that someone will try to pick him up is high.
Lock - Bakhtiari, Sitton, Tretter, Lang, Bulaga, Barclay, Linsley, Sherrod
So by my numbers I got
Lacy, Harris, Starks +1
Nelson, Cobb, Boykins, Adams, +1 maybe 2
Quarless, Taylor, + Likley Bostick, + maybe 1
Bakhtiari, Sitton, Tretter, Lang, Bulaga, Barclay, Linsley, Sherrod +1 (maybe)
Given the formula we've been going into the season with the last few years of 262 defense, 24 offense, I have 26 max, meaning 2 of those "+1's" are going to not be there. My best guess is that we'll go into the season with 3 TE's and 8 Off Linemen to get to 24.
Look for defense to come soon.
