That's it. The preseason is done. Seattle, here we come! Before that though, a lot of tough decisions have to be made by the team. The wait for the announcement of the 53 commences.
Alex Gillett- Good. Just not sure it will be good enough.
Kevin Dorsey- See above.
Matt Flynn/Scott Tolzien- Nearly identical stats don't make the decision on who to keep any easier.
Davante Adams- THAT is what the Packers drafted! Not a punt returner.
Myles White- Very dynamic with the ball in his hands. It just seems so hard to get the ball in his hands when he drops it so much, though not tonight.
Jumal Rolle- Is he finally the guy to replace Jarrett Bush?
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix- During the broadcast they mentioned how good he was at tackling, and how willing he was to stick his nose in up by the line. I admire that, but technically we had that with Sean Richardson when he came back last year. I still want to see more in pass defense from HHCD.
Michael Hill- In any other year, he makes this team.
Jarrett Bush- The pick really helped him.
DuJuan Harris- Trying to tackle him is like playing "Whack-A-Mole"!
Sean Richardson- Just like Ha Ha, I want to see more from him in pass D during live games, not just in practice.
Chris Banjo- If he had shown up in the first three games like he did tonight, he could have made the team.
LaDarius Perkins- Tonight was the first night the Packers used him in a manner suiting his skill set and size. He most likely makes another team, but I would love to see him on the Packer's PS!
Adrian Hubbard- His best game yet, but the injury might be even better for him and the Packers, if they can stash him on IR, or even the PUP for awhile.
Nate Palmer- Again, the injury will factor into it, but he just doesn't do enough for me, to make the team.
Carl Bradford- I'm not sure he knows how to play ILB yet, but he definitely looks better in space flying around than he did coming off the edge. His quiet preseason and lack of a defining position might make it possible for the Packers to put him on the PS.
Andy Mulumba- I like the guy and I like his story, and I like what he provided last year, but OLB is stacked this year.
Jeremy Vujnovich- This is the first game that I really noticed him, but when Adams left the game and Vujnovich came in, I thought he was actually better, and the line improved because of his presence, over that of Adams.
Corey Linsley- I know the team doesn't want him to get hurt, but every player risks injury on every play. I wanted him to get more snaps. If I was Seattle, I would throw everything I have at the middle of the Packers line.
Derek Sherrod- Another good night!
Jeff Janis- Put him in the right spots at the right times, while he learns, and he will produce!
Jayrone Elliott- Disappeared a bit after his fast start, but if the Packers don't keep him, some other team is getting a very good future player!
Khyri Thornton- Again, the injury might have been the best thing for him. Another year to develop without using a roster spot on him, would be best case scenario for the team. It sucks to waste a third round pick, but he got outplayed by UDFAs.
Letroy Guion- I realize this was his first week practicing, but the limited reps he got, along with Raji's injury, to me, means he makes the roster.
Now, for the hard part. Rather than posting my personal version of a roster and practice squad that is basically impossible to predict, especially with so many last minute injuries, I would like to just drum up a bit of a discussion.
For the numbers I have, QB-3, RB-3, WR-5, OL-8, TE-4, K-1, P-1, LS-1, DL-5(plus Neal and Peppers sometimes), ILB-4, OLB-6, CB-6, S-4, with 2 spots left open. This also assumes Thornton, Tretter, Adams, and Bostick go on the PUP list.
So, do the Packers keep 3 QB's? If they only keep 2, who is the backup?
Do they keep Kuhn as a fourth RB?
5 or 6 WR's? If it is 6, who do you like most for the 6th spot? White, Gillett, or Dorsey?
Did anyone else make enough plays to make the team as a UDFA DL other than Pennel?
Does Bradford stick, and if so, and what position?
Can they fit all the OLB's they want on the roster?
Did Rolle beat out Bush or vice versa? Or do they keep both?
Is 5 S's too much? If not, is Banjo the 5th or do they keep cross-training Bush?
Lastly, who is worth a Practice Squad spot? My list would be; Gillett, Dorsey, Rolle, Hill, Perkins, Goodson, Miller ( I'm an Iowa guy), White, Doughty, Hubbard, Bradford, Vujnovich, Pennel, Robinson. Remember it is 10 spots now!
Annnnnnnd discuss!
