The Ol' Gunslinger is going to lace 'em up one more time. Except instead of buckling his chinstrap, he will be buckling on a belt.
It's official: the Brett Favre Legends Game is set for July 19th at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. The exhibition flag football game will feature a host of former NFL players, including several Packers legends who spent much of their careers with Favre in Green Bay. Leading the team opposite Favre will be former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb. In a press conference this morning held at Camp Randall, details were announced about tickets, rosters, and more.
First, the tickets: they will go on sale from UWBadgers.com starting on June 3rd, and there are three price levels at $34, $44, and $55 each. The top tier seats will be near the field along the sidelines, with the lower tier being at each end zone. Click here for a seating chart showing these tiers. UW students will also get a discount on tickets.
As mentioned above, many of Favre's former teammates are participating. Names announced today include Frank Winters, Mark Chmura, Javon Walker, and Andre Rison. Legendary Wisconsin Badgers running back and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne will also participate.
The game will benefit Favre's charity foundation, the Favre 4 Hope Foundation, which distributes money to a variety of charities.
As far as the quality of football one can expect? Favre probably summed it up best himself, calling in via telephone:
Favre: "I think there's going to be a lot of bad football played."
