Packers Announce Tolzien Promotion, Sign WR Alex Gillett to Practice Squad


The Green Bay Packers have officially announced what we found out yesterday: that quarterback Scott Tolzien has been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster. In order to fill his spot on the practice squad, Green Bay has brought back wide receiver Alex Gillett, who was in training camp with the team.

Aaron Rodgers Ruled Out for Remainder of Game


The Packers have just announced that their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is out for the rest of the game against the Bears. Seneca Wallace will man the quarterback position, and Jordy Nelson will apparently be the emergency quarterback.

Spinal Surgeon Says Finley Likely Needs Surgery Before Return


Note that this doctor has no personal knowledge of Packers tight end Jermichael Finley's situation, and he is only speaking in generalities. However, every scenario he poses where the spinal cord is bruised results in surgery being necessary. If that is the case, it seems likely that any possible return to the playing field will be delayed.
UPDATE: The scenarios in this article assume that the bruise was caused by compression of the spine. Ed Werder of ESPN says the following:
