The return of S Marviel Underwood is the Packers best chance of ending the S Marquand Manuel era in 2007. There are a lot of quality secondary players available in the 1st and 2nd round in this year's draft, but there is no telling if the Packers will actually draft someone who is capable of pushing or taking the job away from Manuel.
Underwood was a 4th round selection in 2005 and was having a fantastic training camp until he blew out his knee. Packers.com says he is right on track for a full recovery, but Miami said that about QB Daunte Culpepper last season too. It seems unlikely that player who has never started before would be pushed slowly through training camp and still manage to win the starting job, but LB Brady Poppinga managed to do just that last season. Unfortunately Poppinga struggled badly the first few games of the season until he finished strong.
