Around The NFC North

While the Packers prepare for what should be a very good game at Minnesota, the Vikings are playing much better than their 1-2 record might indicate because they've only allowed 36 points in their first three games and lost both games by 3 points each, the rest of the NFC North is struggling.

All the good feelings from Detroit's 2-0 start were derailed by a dismal performance last week in Philadelphia. But that appears to be nothing like the struggles in Chicago. The QB Rex Grossman era was finally put out it's misery and QB Brian Griese gets a chance to start. Griese played well for Tampa Bay in 2004 and 2005 until he blew out his knee, so he could be an upgrade for that offense. However, the bigger story is injuries on defense. Six of the defensive starters are out next week, and S Adam Archuleta is playing with a broken hand. Their entire starting secondary is either out or playing through the above mentioned broken hand, and it came at a bad time when they have to play against Detroit who should have their passing attack back up to full strength if WR Calvin Johnson's back gets better.
