Adding The Veteran Experience

Having an experience veteran can be a good thing, but what if that veteran is no good? What if his name is Gus Frerotte and the Packers are thinking about signing him as the backup to QB Aaron Rodgers?

Frerotte had some good moments a few years ago in Miami in limited playing time, but he was awful last season in St. Louis. Maybe this is just keeping all your options open since Frerotte is out in St. Louis with QB Trent Green recently signed as a backup. Maybe Frerotte is a good character guy who knows his place and how to hold that clipboard, but with the real possibility that Rodgers will miss games with injuries, they need a QB who can legitimately start a chunk of the season rather than Frerotte. They are better off looking for the next Derek Anderson then extending Frerotte's career another season.
