Right after the Super Bowl, a story circulated that LS Rob Davis was coming back for another season, but that's not happening. He'll stay with the team as an assistant, but another consecutive game (167 games over 11 seasons) comes to an end. He was another player approaching his 40th birthday who could still play too, although the Packers' coaches made the decision that 2007 was Davis' last season in uniform.
Buried in the press release announcing the signing of LB Brandon Chillar was the mention that LS Thomas Gafford was signed to replace Davis. Hopefully this is the right choice because the man Gafford is replacing was a model of consistency and reliability over the past 11 seasons.
