NFL Rookie Premiere

For the past few years, the NFL and EA Sports have invited several rookies to a "glorified photo shoot" which gives you some idea of who the marketing gurus think will have a big impact next season. They don't invite all the draft choices either. Just 34 players are invited.

Last year EA Sports invited RB Brandon Jackson to the NFL rookie premiere because it looked like he would become the starting running back, but all it did was force him to miss the first minicamp and began a forgettable rookie season.

Two of the players to make it this year were Packers 2nd round picks WR Jordy Nelson and QB Brian Brohm. This is reverse from the situation with Jackson. Instead of taking Jackson who seemed the likely starter, they selected Nelson and Brohm who should be backups. Maybe that means they will both have a big 2008 season.
