The Redskins are facing the prospect of playing on Sunday without two starters, and one disgruntled rich guy. RB Clinton Portis is out, and he'll be missed in large part for his ability to pick up the blitz. It's been reported that rookie, and No. 4 overall draft pick, LT Trent Williams should start on Sunday. I'm not sure how good Williams is, but he's a lot better than backup LT Stephon Heyer. Part-time DT Albert Haynesworth might not play due to the tragic death of his half-brother.
For the Packers: Barnett, Burnett, Chillar, Johnson, and Shields are all out. Mike McCarthy said that Tauscher will play "if he walked up to me Sunday morning and said he could play." Otherwise the Journal Sentinel said to expect rookie 1st round pick Bryan Bulaga to get his first NFL start. Everyone else should play, even if they're not at 100%.
It doesn't help to lose Barnett and Chillar, and I'll be watching closely to see how LB A.J. Hawk and LB Desmond Bishop hold up in pass coverage against TEs Chris Cooley and Fred Davis. With Shields and Burnett out, it almost guarantees that CB Jarrett Bush will play extensively somewhere, and could CB Brandon Underwood please beat out Bush on the depth chart? If Bush has to start at safety, then Underwood would probably get his first shot of the season in the nickel.
The complete Packer injury list is after the jump.
