The injury report just keeps getting longer this time of year with 15 names on it for the Green Bay Packers. Obviously none bigger than QB Aaron Rodgers, and while QB Matt Flynn could have a big game, if he does it will be his first in the NFL. Beyond Rodgers, the injury report (as usual) is taking more of a toll on the defense than the offense. The complete injury report from Packers.com.
OUT: DE Cullen Jenkins, QB Aaron Rodgers. DOUBTFUL: LB Frank Zombo. QUESTIONABLE: LB Diyral Briggs, CB Pat Lee, S Anthony Smith. PROBABLE: S Atari Bigby, LB Desmond Bishop, LT Chad Clifton, LG Daryn Colledge, FB Korey Hall, LB Clay Matthews, DE Ryan Pickett, RG Josh Sitton, CB Charles Woodson.
Another week without Jenkins will force Dom Capers to design more creative pass rush options, and some combination of NT Howard Green, DE Jarius Wynn, and DE C.J. Wilson will fill in as best as they can. With so many injured linebackers, their only option to replace Zombo is with a recently signed street free agent (maybe LB Erik Walden). Or they might stay in their nickel package most of the time, but the run defense would struggle and the pass rush will suffer. Briggs and Lee might not play (Smith is already on I.R.) but they only play on special teams. I expect all of the players listed as probable will be available.
