I found myself glued to ESPN tonight watching the 1993 Wild Card playoff victory shown as part of the NFL's Greatest Games series. I'm sure ESPN decided to show it as part of their Favre retirement coverage, but this game was recently on my mind when I wrote a nomination post for WR Sterling Sharpe. This game really changed everything for me about being a Packer fan.
I had seen the team win a playoff game in 1982, but that whole season seemed like a blur because of the strike. Before 1993, winning a playoff game was something that happened to other teams. I wasn't disappointed they didn't make the playoffs in the 1980s because they never (1982 excepted) made the playoffs. This game proved to me that they could build a winner in Green Bay.
