The college All Star games have lost a lot of their old luster as a scouting tool. But the Green Bay Packers are still attending them, and talking to players at the 2011 East West Shrine Game. I'm a little disappointed that the only Badger in attendance is QB Scott Tolzien.
SB Nation's Alfie Crow is scouting the game. Here's his analysis on the East team, and the West team. He's the lead writer at our Jaguars site, Big Cat Country, so his articles focus eventually focus on players the Jaguars are interested in.
But he did let me know that the Packers talked to Rice DE Cheta Ozougwu. At 6'2" and 252 lbs., he sounds like the next Frank Zombo because NFL Draft Scout gave him a 7th round grade, and he would seem a likely candidate to convert to outside linebacker. With LB Desmond Bishop's new extension, it seems unlikely that the Packers will invest a high draft choice on another linebacker. Especially with some roster decisions possible as players like LB Nick Barnett and LB Brad Jones return from injury. But they're certain to bring in some players, and Ozougwu sounds like the perfect type to target with a late round pick.
