Some Experts Agree: The Packers Remain The Best Team

We're Number One!

The team and player rankings are out and it's not surprising that the last undefeated team in the NFL (the Green Bay Packers, of course) are considered one of the best teams. But they aren't always considered the best team. There are reasons why that's fair, and unfair.

One thing that stands out versus the two teams that are ahead of the Packers in the Football Outsiders rankings (Ravens and 49ers) is that the Packers have not been in danger of losing a game. The Saints almost tied it up late, but the Packers led the entire way. After an early lead evaporated, the Panthers got back to within one score, but couldn't recover an onside kick. The Bears almost got to within 3 points before a penalty wiped out a special teams touchdown. I haven't been worried that they were going to actually lose a single one of these games. That is something that doesn't show up on a stat sheet.
