The Green Bay Packers have a roster spot available when they officially end S Nick Collins's season, so the players they try out during the week are a little more interesting than usual.
Pro Football Talk reported that the Packers tried out C Colin Miller. He was coming off a knee injury last season which might explain why he was an undrafted free agent. He's a little undersized in the Scott Wells mold of player, and was one of the last players released by the Steelers after the preseason ended. But he didn't have much of a chance with them because Steelers really didn't need another center.
Signing someone like Miller, or ex-Packer Tony Moll (who they tried out last week), makes sense because Evan Dietrich-Smith is just about all the interior line depth they have at the moment. With RT Bryan Bulaga currently out for an unspecified time, the depth on the line (which was never deep this season) is looking very thin.
