Aaron Rodgers Was Pretty Good Against The Chargers

Another game, another game MVP award for Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers in our post-game poll.

Since it's not a matter of whether he's the player of the game, it's time to ask which was his best play. From the play-by-play at NFL.com:

(7:32) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers scrambles up the middle to SD 33 for 11 yards (38-M.Gilchrist).

His receivers weren't getting open for much of the game, especially at the start of it, and Rodgers ran for it three times on their opening drive. This 3rd down play happened at mid-field and kept the early drive alive.

(4:04) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers scrambles left end ran ob at SD 48 for 25 yards.

I'm just loving it when he runs for a first down on 3rd down. This one happened in the second quarter.

(1:08) (Shotgun) 12-A.Rodgers pass deep right to 85-G.Jennings to GB 49 for 21 yards (23-Q.Jammer).

This happened at the end of the third quarter, on 2nd down, and put them at mid field. What I liked about it was how Rodgers looked left at first, before looking back towards Greg Jennings, and it helped open up the middle of the field so he could run for another 10+ yards.

(11:31) 12-A.Rodgers pass deep right to 87-J.Nelson to SD 4 for 64 yards (28-S.Gregory, 38-M.Gilchrist).

You remember this one in the fourth quarter. And it was an impressive throw while he was running to his right. He couldn't stop and plant his throw because there was a defender right behind him.

I'm not picking any touchdown throws in part because the ones to Jennings, Jordy Nelson, and Jermichael Finley were all great plays by the receivers too. On each play, the pass was right where it needed to be, but maybe more credit should go to the receiver on those particular plays. I'm not exactly sure what James Jones did on his touchdown reception, but he had his man beat by a few steps.
