While I don't expect Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is going anywhere, they need to do something about his salary cap number. He's scheduled to make over $10 million in 2011, and that's too rich for a running back. For a comparison, RB Maurice Jones-Drew signed an extension two years ago that averages $6 million per year. He'll likely be paid over $10 million in 2011, but probably in the form of a cap friendly signing bonus.
GM Rick Spielman said the Vikings roster will likely maintain the status quo, but that "it's always etched in oatmeal." He went onto say that "once we understand what we're dealing with [with the new CBA], then we'll be able to address [Peterson's contract]."
