J.J. Cooper at Fanhouse is on a Green Bay Packers analysis roll. First he counted the number of times NT B.J. Raji was actually blocked by an opponent's center, and now he's taken a closer look at LB Clay Matthews's unblocked sacks. Cooper says his ability to blitz unblocked is "a credit to Matthews' ability to read a play on the fly."
It reminded me of the forced fumble in the Super Bowl. He was yelling out to DE Ryan Pickett before the play, he knew it was a run coming towards them on the strong side, and he got himself in a perfect position. The Steelers also asked a bit too much of their center to pull on the play, but that doesn't take away from what Matthews did.
