Lions DT Ndamukong Suh was named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. The fans voted weekly for the award, and those winners were used to determine the finalists. He beat out QB Sam Bradford, CB Joe Haden, and Buccaneers WR Mike Williams.
This is another one of those sponsor driven awards, and is separate from the AP award. It's the first time in the award's nine year history that it's been given to a defensive player. But the really cool thing for me was that they flew Suh, Haden and Williams in to Dallas for the ceremony. Bradford was in town yesterday, but was unable to attend the ceremony today.
Suh was asked about you beat the Green Bay Packers. He said the key was "being able to stop the run." On Rodgers he said "it's a two edged sword. He can throw and hurt you with his feet...we wanted to put as many this as we could do on him...speed his clock up."
