Friday Injury Report: Will Erik Walden Start?

The Green Bay Packers injury report is not as significant as it is for the Steelers, but I've been waiting all week to find out the status of starting outside LB Erik Walden. The complete report from Packers.com:

QUESTIONABLE: LB Erik Walden. PROBABLE: LT Chad Clifton, WR Donald Driver, OL Jason Spitz, and LB Frank Zombo.

As is usual for the Packers, all the players listed as probable will play barring some pre-game setback. While Walden has practiced all week, his status is uncertain. "We’ll take Erik up the game and see what happens," McCarthy said. "I have a good feel for what he can and cannot do. Sunday I’m going to trust him and the medical staff to make that call."

Those are not the most assuring words I've heard from the coach. Putting pressure on QB Ben Roethlisberger is very important, and it's harder without a quality pass rusher from the outside. Maybe they'll get an assist from Zombo's return, but it's hard to rely on someone who's been out with an injury the past few games. Unfortunately, defensive coordinator Dom Capers is often determined to rush the weakside linebacker to provide that pressure, and he'll do it even if he doesn't have the best available players ready.
