Illini Pro Day: Could The Packers Be Interested In Liuget, LeShoure, or Wilson

Rob Rang had a good recap of the Illinois Pro Day, and I wanted to point out a couple names that could interest the Green Bay Packers.

DT Corey Liuget. While he's listed as a defensive tackle, he's also 6-2 and 303, which is almost the same measurements as DE Cullen Jenkins. I wouldn't expect him to have the same pass rushing moves as Jenkins, but he had a monster workout, and he might have snuck into the first round:

"A lot of [team representatives] went to this workout to see what kind of shape [Liuget] was in. He answered that in the workout. I'm not sure the kid broke a sweat. He had [Marinelli] working, not the other way around. I'm telling you, it was an impressive workout."

RB Mikel LeShoure. I expect the Packers will pick up RB Ryan Grant's bonus, and go with a combination of Grant and RB James Starks in 2011. But if they want to go in a different direction, and bring in a young running back to team with Starks instead, LeShoure could interest them. He's a lead back, but weighed 232 lbs. at his pro day. In Grant and Starks, they already have two big running backs with speed, and LeShoure fits that profile. The knocks on him regarding hesitation in the backfield and poor receiving technique are things that could be fixed with coaching. Like I said, I expect Grant to return, but I mention it because LeShoure is their type of big back.

LB Martez Wilson. While he's listed as an inside linebacker, if the Packers wanted to draft a linebacker, he might be the most talented one remaining at the end of the first round. He was a star at the combine, and he had high expectations coming into his Pro Day. Instead he bombed. One scout used the word "bad" three times in one sentence to describe his performance. I thought they might show some interest in him, but this workout probably dropped him out of the first round.
