ESPN Ranking Tight Ends: Finley At Number 10

Via Kevin Seifert is the ESPN power ranking of the top 10 tight ends currently in the NFL. When I saw that Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley was only at No. 10, my first thought was that the list is garbage. I wouldn't want him traded for any of those players ranked ahead of him.

But on second thought, it's remarkable he's even listed in the top 10. Potentially he could be a great receiver, but at this point he's still looking towards the future. He's been injured in 2009 and 2010, and after three seasons, he barely has over 1000 career receiving yards.

Overall it's a fair list of other young players who have been more productive (Pettigrew, Lewis), veterans that still might have something left (Cooley and Winslow), a future hall of fame inductee who's still starting (Gonzalez), and four great players (Witten, Gates, Clark, and Davis). I wouldn't bet Finley's future against any of them, but I can understand why he ranks where he does based on past performance.
