On Appeal, The Lions Tampering With The Chiefs Wasn't Quite So Bad

New, comments

A couple months ago, the Lions lost a 7th round pick (and swapped 5th round picks with the Chiefs) because they were caught tampering with a Chiefs player under contract. As the earlier post notes, it's not exactly clear what tampering occurred, and after a second look on appeal, the case was sufficiently weak enough that it's now a 2012 7th round loss instead of a 2011 draft pick.

As Pride of Detroit points out, it's still a punishment though it isn't clear the Lions should be punished. Maybe the NFL is punishing the Lions because they've decided to punish the Lions, and not because the tampering charge is true.
