Since Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson has been a master in the draft over the past few years, I think I'll keep it simple and just look back over his tenure as GM. This list is more focused on what they have done so far in their careers, and not who has the most potential. It's also not a list of Top 10 free agents, so there are some young players developed in recent years who will not make this list either. It's weighed heavily on players drafted over two years ago who have started a lot of games.
Two young starters who have not started a lot of games are tied for 10th place as I count down his successes.
TE Jermichael Finley. As much promise as he's shown, it's important to remember it's just potential. In his career he's only started 16 games and has barely over 1000 receiving yards. But he's a matchup nightmare who's too big for defensive backs and too fast for linebackers, and the offense was designed around him coming into the 2010 season. That's amazing coming from a little known 3rd round draft choice in 2008 who just turned 24 years old.
LB Desmond Bishop. I expect he'll remain one of the top five players on defense over the next couple seasons, but the former 6th round pick has only started 13 games in his four year career. I'm a believer, but he deserves an asterisk as one of Thompson's best draft selections until he starts for a couple more seasons. Really that's not so much a criticism as a compliment on the strength of recent drafts.
