Top 10 Draft Busts Since 1980 - Brent Fullwood

New, comments

Green Bay Packers Bust #7: RB Brent Fullwood. Drafted No. 4 overall in 1987.

I'm a little surprised to be placing a former Pro Bowl player on the bust list, but he deserves it. At No. 4 overall, he was the Packers highest draft selection in seven years, and was coming at the end of the Forrest Gregg error era. Instead of a game changing running back, the Packers got a player who could only win the job as a kick returner in his rookie season. In his first NFL game, he returned a kickoff 98 yards but fumbled the ball out of the end zone for a touchback.

Instead of a franchise running back, the Packers had an ordinary player who didn't show any of the desire or explosiveness expected in a Top 5 player. In his last full season (1989) he snuck into the Pro Bowl during the surprising 10-6 season under Lindy Infante. After an awful start to the 1990 season, he was shipped off to Cleveland and only appeared in one other NFL game.
