This article was from last week, but I just read about it today, on the Green Bay Packers stadium debt to the NFL for the Lambeau renovations from 2000. From JS Online.com:
The Deadspin information shows that the Packers owed the NFL nearly $7 million in 2010.
The Packers are one of only 13 teams that owe the NFL for stadium construction, but what's funny about the report obtained by Deadspin is that the $7 million is only pocket change. Those 13 teams owe a combined $771 million, with the Giants and Jets the biggest borrowers ($158 million each) for the New Meadowlands Stadium.
I've read in other places that the lockout wouldn't have a big effect on the Packers because they have so little debt, and this is just another example of it. But the rest of those teams are probably much more eager to end the lockout, and get the revenue stream turned back on again.
