Cheesestradamus Recap: Week -4

From the mind of Mike McCarthy: "A lot of people picked Matt Flynn to lead the team in passing this week...let's make Tex give out a lot of points." (Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images)

Well, the first preseason game is in the book, as is the first week of the Cheesestradamus contest. All told, it seems that the APC community was better at predicting some results of the game than the Packers were at winning said game. While that's a good sign for you guys, that means I'll have to start making the questions a little tougher and more creative in order to make things a bit more challenging.

Some quick notes about the first week:

Only four players were held completely scoreless, while unclemoxie, samdago, and robert st hold a 3-way tie for the top spot with 12 points apiece. Also, over half of the community correctly predicted that Matt Flynn would lead the Packers in passing yards, but you all whiffed on your bonus predictions--all except Badgerman59, who nailed a pretty obscure guess, that the Pack would have exactly 4 first downs more than the Browns. Finally, I may look into expanding on the spread to award points for guessing the teams' scores, because there weren't many who were in the scoring range.

Standings can be found after the jump.

All in all, I would say the first week was a pretty solid success without any major hiccups. Thanks to everyone for participating, and please keep the comments and suggestions coming. Keep an eye out later this week for the next contest!
