The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with backup LB Diyral Briggs.

If you're unfamiliar with him, he was signed mid-season after the injuries piled up at linebacker. He had a couple mishaps in coverage on special teams, and rarely (if ever) played on defense. But they did keep him active for nearly game in 2010 after he was signed.
Since the Packers began training camp with so little depth at inside linebacker, I thought that maybe he had a shot at earning a backup job. But he's been battling a hamstring injury, and apparently the team couldn't wait for him any longer.
The primary backups at inside linebacker in their first preseason game were LB Robert Francois and rookie LB D.J. Smith. Neither really did much to distinguish themselves against the Browns, but both were pretty active and tied for 2nd place with 4 tackles each.
