Packers Add Johnny Jones To The Practice Squad

With a spot on the practice squad available after the departure of WR Chastin West to the Jaguars, the Green Bay Packers signed rookie DL Johnny Jones to take his place. From Packers.com:

Jones, a 6-foot-4, 310 pound rookie out of Marshall, signed with the Miami Dolphins as a non-drafted free agent on July 28. He appeared in two preseason contests for the Dolphins before being released on Aug. 26. Jones played in 32 games with 16 starts during his final three seasons at Marshall.

I didn't find much out about him, other than he started on-and-off for three seasons in college. He's probably a good fit at the moment because DE Ryan Pickett suffered a bruised foot against the Panthers (though back at practice on Wednesday), and DE Mike Neal is out after knee surgery. They probably needed another defensive lineman for the scout team. Obviously that's not a sexy signing, but they've got to have depth for practice.
