Senior Bowl 2012: Should The Packer Fans Be Watching?

Senior Bowl 2012: Courtney Upshaw, Quinton Coples, Kirk Cousins Stand Out At Practices - SBNation.com. The 2012 Senior Bowl will be broadcast on the NFL Network this Saturday, and the Green Bay Packers (along with every other team) are scouting the event. They're also scouting the practices this week.

In 2009, Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji stood out at the Senior Bowl, and obviously that was a good sign. Last year, LB Von Miller and OT Nate Solder "quickly emerge as the elite class" and went onto have good to great rookie seasons. Does that mean the Packers should consider Marshall DE (he'd be a LB for the Packers) Vinny Curry? He's projected to go in the late second, early third round by NFL Draft Scout.

Unfortunately one good week's worth of practice doesn't always paint the best picture. Christian Ponder won the Senior Bowl MVP last year. Sam Acho "lacked quickness and power" but he went onto have 7 sacks as a rookie LB for the Cardinals. NT Phil Taylor "impressed scouts" but he went on to make the All-Keep Chopping Wood Team.

The players who rise are usually someone to keep an eye on. But it's not a sure sign of future NFL success either.
