He had some hits, and he had some misses. After their last Super Bowl appearance, the Bears have missed the playoffs in four of the last five seasons.
He shook up the front office two years ago, but that didn't seem to make it much better. While the injury to Gabe Carimi can't be blamed on the GM, the Bears have gotten little help from the draft in recent years. He also had an inability to pick good players on the offensive side of the ball (Rex Grossman, Cedric Benson, etc.).
It'll be interesting to see what moves the Bears make here. I doubt they'll pay for a big name candidate, but it seems unlikely they'll take a chance on a complete unknown.
