Cheese Substitute: College Football Games To Watch For Saturday, October 13

It's a loaded slate this Saturday, with multiple solid games during each college football timeslot.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

This week's marquee college football matchups aren't quite as shiny as last week's, but this is almost certainly the deepest schedule that we've had this season. Every timeslot (except for the super-late one) has at least two watchable games.

Draft prospects below come from Chris Steuber, whose blog you should check out. An asterisk indicates an underclassman. The Green Bay Packers are not believed to have their scouts at any games this weekend, but maybe they're being stealth.

The Red River Rivalry is at 11 a.m. central, to help curb binge drinking. That game is live on ABC.

Also on at 11, the Badgers head to West Lafayette to take on Purdue. This isn't usually a massive game, but the Badgers aren't very good this year, while Purdue look respectable. Also, because Ohio State and Penn State can't go to the Big Ten Championship, the winner of this game will have the inside track to Indy.

Wisconsin NFL prospects

It's tough to tune away from a WVU-Texas Tech game that will probably feature more than 100 points, but the biggest game of the 2:30 slate is definitely Notre Dame hosting Stanford. I'm not sure that either team is BCS quality, but both will certainly be able to claim that they are if they pull off a victory.

Notre Dame NFL prospects

The good primetime games are staggered, so even if you can't catch all of them, you should be able to catch parts of every one. At 6, USC takes on Washington. The Huskies pulled off an upset of Stanford last time they were at home, while USC struggled with Utah last week. Expect this one to stay interesting for a while.

USC NFL prospects

QB Matt Barkley, CB Brian Baucham, OT *Kevin Graf, CB *Torin Harris, C Khaled Holmes, DE Wes Horton, OG *John Martinez, FS T.J. McDonald, RB Curtis McNeal, RB *Silas Redd, CB *Nickell Robey, FB *Hunter Simmons, SS Jawanza Starling, CB Isiah Wiley, WR *Robert Woods, SS *Demetrius Wright.

Washington NFL prospects

RB *Jesse Callier, OLB *Princeton Fuimaono, WR James Johnson, OL *Erik Kohler, SS *Sean Parker, QB *Keith Price, OL Drew Schaefer, CB Desmond Trufant.

The biggest game of the day is at 7, when South Carolina takes on LSU in Death Valley. The Tigers are coming off a loss to Florida and don't appear to be nearly as formidable on defense as they were last season, but they're always a different team at night in Death Valley. Also, Sakerlina are Sakerlina. They can beat or lose to any team in the country by four scores on any given day. This one is on ESPN.

LSU NFL prospects

DE Chancey Aghayere, K Drew Alleman, WR *Kadron Boone, TE Chase Clement, DT Josh Downs, DE Lavar Edwards, OT *Chris Faulk, OT Alex Hurst, DT *Bennie Logan, C P.J. Lonergan, SS *Craig Loston, QB Zach Mettenberger, DE/OLB *Barkevious Mingo, ILB *Kevin Minter, DE/OLB *Sam Montgomery, FS *Eric Reid, WR Russell Shepard, CB *Tharold Simon, RB *Spencer Ware, OG *Josh Williford.

South Carolina NFL prospects

CB Akeem August, TE Justice Cunningham, OLB DeVonte Holloman, OL T.J. Johnson, RB *Marcus Lattimore, CB *Jimmy Legree, QB *Connor Shaw, FS D.J. Swearinger, DE Devin Taylor, ILB Shaq Wilson.

At 8, you can catch Tennessee at Mississippi State on ESPN2. The Bulldogs try to make a legit claim for top bowl billing, while Derek Dooley tries to save his job.

Mississippi State NFL prospects
