Everyone spent the better part of three hours yelling at their televisions on Sunday, and for good reason. Though the Green Bay Packers eventually pulled out a victory, there was really no excuse for such a poor performance at home against a bad Jacksonville Jaguars team, who were without Maurice Jones-Drew.
SB Nation and Turf Show Times' Ryan Van Bibber has been handling the SB Nation NFL power rankings in the temporary absence of our NFL editor Joel Thorman, and dropped the Packers two spots this week. If it sounds harsh to drop a team after a win, consider that all of the top seven teams won, and none of the top four moved at all.
Here's what Ryan had to say about the Packers and ranking them 7th:
I think the Packers get caught taking it easy sometimes. The Jaguars were within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Sure, a touchdown means a lot more to Jacksonville than it does Green Bay, but that still seems a little close.
Green Bay seems to have this problem where they play down to the level of their opposition. It's a bit obnoxious. The two teams that moved above them, the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers, put up impressive wins and have records at least as good as the Packers. Calling Green Bay the 7th best team in the league right now seems very fair to me.
