NFL Picks and Predictions: Week 9

Thursday Night Football is hardly a football game at all, but we pick it anyway, along with the rest of the NFL action.

Ron Schwane-US PRESSWIRE

It's Thursday, and unlike previous Thursdays, there is not any good football on television. I'm sure that some of you will watch the Chiefs take on the Chargers simply because it is football, but I would rather be doing anything else. Luckily for me -- and I'm the only person to ever say this -- I'm not going to be watching because I'm packing up my stuff. I'm headed to DC and SB Nation's offices for the foreseeable future, and I'll be back to writing at least as much as Tex and Devin do shortly. For now, here are your Thursday picks.

Game Kevin Evan Devin
KC vs. SD SD SD SD
DEN vs. CIN DEN DEN DEN
BAL vs. CLE BAL BAL BAL
ARI vs. GB GB GB GB
BUF vs. HOU HOU HOU HOU
DET vs. JAX JAX DET JAX
MIA vs. IND MIA MIA MIA
CHI vs. TEN CHI CHI CHI
CAR vs. WAS WAS WAS WAS
TB vs. OAK TB TB OAK
MIN vs. SEA SEA SEA SEA
PIT vs. NYG NYG NYG PIT
DAL vs. ATL ATL ATL ATL
PHI vs. NO NO PHI NO

Chiefs vs. Chargers: Can we just cancel this game? Really, do fans of these teams even care if it gets played? How is this on primetime? -Kevin

Broncos vs. Bengals: I thought the Bengals would fall down to earth a bit this season, and that appears to be the case. Denver is looking very strong right now, with both Demariyus Thomas and Eric Decker looking like excellent playmakers. Oh, and that Von Miller guy? He's fantastic. -Tex

Ravens vs. Browns: The Browns did a good job of taking advantage of a reeling Chargers team coming off a bye last week. This week they face a reeling Ravens team coming off a bye...too bad for the Browns the Ravens are better than the Chargers. -Devin

Cardinals vs. Packers: I'm quite sick of the Packers playing up or down to their competition. I know they'll at least squeak out a win by a field goal this week, but can we just crush Arizona? Please? -Kevin

Bills vs. Texans: Mario Williams signed with Buffalo this offseason, coming over from Houston. How's that working out for him? Football Outsiders ranks Buffalo's defense 30th in the league, while Houston's sits at #2. Houston will roll. -Tex

Lions vs. Jaguars: I'll probably be wrong here, but I like an upset here. The Lions have struggled to play consistently this year. They have also struggled to string together wins. I also don't believe that Titus Young can be a legitimate answer for them to take pressure off of Calvin Johnson. As a result the Jags get a surprise win at home. -Devin

Dolphins vs. Colts: The Dolphins probably have better than a 50-50 shot to get to the playoffs, with Ryan Tannehill as their quarterback. That's amazing. Football, in general, just isn't what it used to be right now. This is a tough one to pick, but the Phins certainly do look like the better all-around team right now. -Kevin

Bears vs. Titans: The one thing that the Titans really have going for them is their return game on special teams. Well, the Bears have some of the best coverage teams in the league right now. Expect Chicago to force multiple turnovers once again -- even if their offense remains stagnant, they should win handily. -Tex

Panthers vs. Redskins: Last year's rookie sensation against this year's rookie sensation. I'm going to stick with the flavor of the month and say RG3 beats out Cam in this game. -Devin

Buccaneers vs. Raiders: I have no idea what to think about either of these teams, but I know that the only thing I like about the Raiders is Seabass, so I'm picking the Bucs. I know this makes no sense. -Kevin

Vikings vs. Seahawks: Seattle just seems to be a different team at home, playing suffocating defense and finding a way to win late (see Green Bay, New England). Their front seven is stout and they won't let Adrian Peterson beat them; their special teams are good enough to contain Minnesota's. -Tex

Steelers vs. Giants: The Steelers have looked a bit old and past their prime this year sure, but they are a more consistent team than the Giants. As a result they can go in and pull out the upset. -Devin

Cowboys vs. Falcons: Hahahahahahaha Tony Romo hahahahahahaha. -Kevin

Eagles vs. Saints: The Michael Vick "benching" controversy is getting out of hand. I don't think they'll win because he bounces back with an All-Pro type performance (although that's possible with how bad the Saints' D is), but rather because Drew Brees doesn't have a running game at all. Seriously...the Saints' rushing offense is worse than Green Bay's. -Tex
