Lions vs. Packers: Thursday Injury Report

Not much to update for Thursday’s injury report. The main change from yesterday’s report for the Packers deals with Sam Shields. It appears Shields was a full participant in Thursday’s practice which points to him returning for Sunday’s game. This is obviously good news since the Packers have been hurting at the corner back position the last few weeks…..wait, they've been fine there and they linebackers? Oh. Well, it’s still good to have Shields back in the fold.

Otherwise every other player kept the same status as Wednesday’s injury report. In case you missed it…

Did not practice: T.J. Lang, Clay Matthews, Mike Neal, Jordy Nelson, James Starks, and C.J. Wilson.

Limited participation: Donald Driver, Terrell Manning, Jeff Saturday, and Charles Woodson.

More interesting developments occurred on the Lions side of the board though. Let’s take a look at the full chart.

Name Position Injury Wed. Thurs
Jeff Backus T Hamstring LP LP
Gosder Cherilus T Knees DNP LP
Louis Delmas S Knee DNP LP
Nick Fairley DT Quadricep LP DNP
Chris Houston CB Ankle DNP LP
Lawrence Jackson DE Concussion DNP LP
Jacob Lacey CB Foot / Achilles DNP LP
Kassim Osgood WR Finger FP FP
Ashlee Palmer LB Thumb FP FP
Corey Williams DT Knee DNP DNP

The biggest thing to point out is the status of Nick Fairley. While most Lions have taken a step forward in health in practicing more, it appears Fairley may have taken a step backwards in dealing with his quadricep injury and missed practice on Thursday. Fairley suffered this injury late in the game against the Colts.

The good news for the Lions is that their two most talented players in the secondary, Delmas and Houston, returned to practice on a limited basis. The Lions have struggled in the secondary this year and will need these two to play to help contain Aaron Rodgers and the Packers pass happy offense.
