2012 NFL Mock Draft: NFL Combine Results Change Projections - SBNation.com. Despite the post's title, it doesn't look like there was a lot of movement in this mock draft. The Green Bay Packers were projected to take Connecticut's Kendall Reyes, and he's a player who had been linked to them in an earlier mock draft. But Reyes did have a strong showing during Monday's workout, so he could be the best defensive lineman available at the end of the 1st round.
However, I would question whether to pass on Illinois's Whitney Mercilus. Reyes seems like a reach to me, and Mercilus could be a dynamic pass rusher. Unfortunately, it's not exactly clear what role Mercilus would play on the defense. They didn't use a situational pass rusher last season, and he might never be good enough in coverage to become an every down linebacker.
But Mike McCarthy seemed to have second thoughts about lining up in the nickel package on 70% of their plays last season. That could open up a role for someone like Mercilus, if the Packers want to keep another defensive lineman on the field instead of an extra defensive back.
